Carlsberg healthy printing inks for bottle labels launched globally
A highlight at the Healthy Printing Symposium 2018 in Lüneburg was the announcement by brewing group Carlsberg that they are rolling out healthy printing inks for the labels of their core brand Carlsberg globally.
This ambitious goal was started through intensive cooperation and development work with the ink manufacturer hubergroup and the Töpfer printing company under the scientific supervision of EPEA. The Greener Green ink meets the Cradle to Cradle Certified™ standard at Silver Level. Additional improvements are anticipated shortly.
Carlsberg’s Sustainability Director Simon Boas Hoffmeyer confirms that innovations like the Greener Green ink are only achievable through collaborative action:
“Only extensive partnerships can create a virtuous circle of improvements within business and among suppliers and business partners. Carlsberg can’t do it alone, so the knowledge of our partners is incredibly important for us to reach our targets.”
Douglas Mulhall, Cradle to Cradle expert and responsible for the Carlsberg project at EPEA adds:
“Carlsberg and its suppliers committed to a roadmap for continuous improvement, which is at the core of Healthy Printing. Instead of just stopping at one certification, Carlsberg and its suppliers are continuing to improve and scale up the rollout of these inks. Especially the introduction into Asian markets is an impressive achievement.”
